Recording of the award winning theatre production Namatjira, under the stars at Ntaria

The record of a ground breaking stage show about Namatjira, peformed live under the stars at Ntaria (Hermannsburg), in the Northern Territory. Taking place under the spectacular ghost gums next to the old mission church, this show for community took place in the very place that Albert Namatjira grew up.

The play was developed by Big hART and Company B Belvoir, as a celebration of the life and legacy of Albert Namatjira, and was created through a long term collaboration with members of the Namatjira family.

The play toured Australia from 2010 – 2012, performing in London in 2013. This production was filmed outdoors before an audience of 600 pople from remote communities near and far – audience to their own culture and language in a nationally travelled stage show of the highest calibre.
